AELTC introduces 14 & Under Championships

The All-England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) has announced the launch of a 14 & Under Championships for the best juniors in the age group. The aim for this exhibition tournament is to provide promising players with a unique opportunity to play on grass early in their junior pathway. The tournament will be held for the first time in 2022 and will see 16 boys and 16 girls from across the world compete on grass at the All England Club during the second week of The Championships.

The two European spots in the main draw will be given to the winner and runner-up of the Tennis Europe 14 & Under International Roehampton on 7th June. (Note: entry deadline: 10.05.22, 14:00GMT). The remaining 14 places will be allocated to players from other regions (Australia, USA, South American, France, Oceania and Central America).

The 14 & Under Championships will be a round robin with four groups of four players, guaranteeing at least three matches per player. First place in each group will progress to knock out semi-finals and final matches. Consolation matches will also be planned for those not reaching the semi-finals.

Players will compete in singles only to ensure that the 14 & Under Championships can complete within the timeframe and matches will be played on Championships courts.

In addition, a grass court training camp will be held in the days preceding the tournament, which will offer players a significant amount of practice time on grass courts, along with sessions on key development areas for junior players.
