European Senior Club Championships at La Manga Club

European Senior Club Championships at La Manga Club

Week One of the European Senior Club Championships took place last week at the award-winning La Manga Club resort in Murcia, Spain, where 43 teams from 14 nations were in action.

French teams dominated the men’s events, picking up three of the four available titles. Having failed to score any men’s medals in 2018, French clubs stormed back to win the 45, 50 and 55 & Over categories, with Reuil, SP Vicky and De Thiais each claiming titles.

The exception was the home team from CT Murcia, who successfully defended the Men’s 35s title.

On the women’s side, Borgotrebbia of Italy won a first ever European title in the 40 & Over category. Riga of Latvia swapped last year’s 40s title for the 45 & Over. Wimbledon LTC of Great Britain pipped Club de Campo to the 50 & Over title, leaving the Spaniards with silver medals for a second successive year.

Tennis Europe extends its gratitude to the team from La Manga Club, who worked tirelessly to ensure optimal playing conditions for the participants following torrential rains and flooding during the run-up to the event.

The 60 & Over to 75 & Over age categories will take centre stage during the second week of the competition, which will also be held at La Manga Club, during the week of 2-7 December. The entry deadline for the remaining events is 30th September. For further information, please click here.
