Success for new President’s Fund

Launched in November 2019, Tennis Europe’s ‘President’s Fund’ has already allocated direct assistance to 29 European national tennis federations. In total, over €125,000 has been distributed to nations, providing immediate relief for their federations.

A wide range of projects have been supported, ranging from the organisation of training camps and national touring teams to purchases of tennis and office equipment. With one eye on the road to qualification for the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, two nations (Belarus and Hungary) have received funds to assist with the acquisition of new wheelchairs for their players.

The Fund was created by Tennis Europe President Vladimir Dmitriev. Grants are made subject to compliance with certain criteria and complement financial commitments from the recipients.

Mr. Dmitriev commented, “We are delighted by the response to the Fund. That over half of our member nations have been able to benefit in less than three months illustrates that many national associations struggle to find the resources to carry out their daily activities. Tennis Europe is happy to be able to assist with these challenges and will continue to work to improve this situation across the region.”
