Prado & El Aouni victorious at Young Champions Cup

The large touring contingents of CAT (Confederation of African Tennis) and COSAT (South American Tennis Confederation) made a big impact again this week, dominating the top places on both boys’ and girls’ podia at the week's big Category One event in Hasselt. Here’s a glimpse at some of the key results from the past week on the Tennis Europe Junior Tour.

Category 1

14&U | YOUNG CHAMPIONS CUP | Hasselt, BEL

Juan Carlos Prado of Bolivia is having a great summer in Europe having already amassed three doubles titles. Not only has he now claimed back-to-back Category One singles titles after his win in Dueren, he has vanquished the same opponent in both finals Oliver Ojakaar. The Estonian, with two titles already this year, has now collected his third runner-up trophy in 2019 after Prado overcame him with an impressive comeback 0-6 6-1 7-6(4).

Morocco’s Aya El Aouni is also having a stellar summer, reaching the latter stages of various events. She picked up her first winner’s trophy, emulating Prado’s comeback win, by defeating Russia’s Alevtina Ibragimova 0-6 7-5 6-3 in the final.

16&U | OTV 2019 EUROPE JUNIOR TOUR | Zell Am See, AUT

Jan Kobierski beat fellow Austrian Tobias Wirlend for his second title of the year. Malwina Rowinska (POL), playing in an astounding ninth singles final in 2019, was too strong for Eliska Viktorinova (CZE), winning the match for her third singles title of the season.

Boys’ doubles winners: Mihai Viorel Lungu (ROU) & Christian Teszari (ROU) 
Girls’ doubles winners: Smilte Bakyte (LTU) & Eliska Viktorinova (CZE)

16&U + 14&U | BAVARIAN JUNIOR OPEN | Augsburg, GER

16&U: Top seed Elena Pridankina (RUS) defeated number two seed Weronika Ewald (POL) for the girls’ trophy. Yannick Wunderluch (GER) beat compatriot Kim Johannes Niethammer to win the boys’ title.

Boys’ doubles winners: Robin Stettbacher (SUI) & Ramon Strassmann (SUI)
Girls’ doubles winners: Anastasia Grechkina (RUS) & Elena Pridankina (RUS)

14&U: Marek Pazdera (CZE) prevented Atakan Karahan from winning his third title by beating the Turk in the final. Meanwhile Aleksandra Gabrovska (BUL) bested doubles champion Katrin Pavkova (CZE) in the girls’ final.

Girls’ doubles winners: Rose Marie Nijkamp (NED) & Katrin Pavkova (CZE)

14&U | SAN MARINO JUNIOR CUP | San Marino, SMR

Kseniia Saenko (RUS) was too good for Teresa Cinquino (ITA) in the girls’ final, while Lorenzo Sciahbasi (ITA) beat Edoardo Santoni (ITA) to take the boys' title. 

Boys’ doubles winners: Paul Barbier Gazeu (FRA) & Theo Papamalamis (FRA)
Girls’ doubles winners: Daria Domova (RUS) & Polina Skopintseva (RUS)
