European Senior Championships to welcome 350 players

Organisers have confirmed that a record 350 players will take part in the European Senior Championships in Pörtschach, Austria, from 10-16 June.

This will be the first ‘open’ edition of the event, which caters for all age groups, men and women, from Over 35 to Over 85. The draws are expected to be particularly strong, with five current world #1s amongst those preparing to do battle for the title of European Champion. The event is Europe’s most prestigious in terms of ranking points.

The Championships are being hosted by Austrian Tennis Federation at the Werzer Tennis Arena, long established as a favourite venue on the ITF Senior Circuit and situated at the edge of a picturesque lake with many hotels within walking distance. Players will be treated to an extensive social programme, including a lavish opening ceremony with welcome cocktail, a barbecue dinner with live music and Friday’s gala evening at a very special location.

This week, the same venue is hosting an ITF Grade 1 event, with many players taking advantage of the opportunity to play in back-to-back high-level competitions. For further information, and next week’s entry lists, click here.
