European Senior Championships Latest

The fourth edition of the European Seniors Championships takes place at two venues in Sofia from 6-12 July, where the event is being hosted for a fourth year in succession by the Bulgarian Tennis Federation.

Around 200 players are taking part in the tournament, which includes singles, doubles and mixed doubles events and caters for all age categories. Events are split between Bulgaria’s National Tennis Centre and the nearby Dema Club. 

A number of the best-known names on the ITF Seniors Circuit are in action, including four world #1s and many other Top 10 players. Many of last year's winners are back to defend their titles, including Daniel Dolbea (GER, Men's 35), Gerhard Fahlke (GER, Men's 40), Manfred Hunstorfer (AUT, Men's 50), Pierre Godfroid (BEL, Men's 55), Javier Lazcano Hernandez (ESP, Men's 60), Henri Crutchet (FRA, Men's 80), Ana Salas Lozano (ESP, Women's 40), Encaracion Gomis Ruiz (ESP, Women's 60) and Heidemarie Oehlsen (GER, Women's 65). Peter Pokorny (AUT), the winnerof last year's Men's 70s event, will be stepping up to the Men's 75s category.

A Grade B1 event on the ITF Seniors Circuit, the European Championships offers 210 ranking points to the winner, making the event the biggest in Europe in terms of points available.
