Tennis Europe’s President Henrik Thorsøe Pedersen opened the three-hour session with an update on the organisation and its current activities. The programme also featured Natalia Belibova, General Secretary of the National Tennis Federation of Moldova, who presented Moldova’s National Tennis Centre. Her presentation gave delegates an impressive insight into the recently-inaugurated centre and the work being done to develop tennis in Moldova.

The main session, ‘Building Tennis Europe for Tomorrow’, focused on Tennis Europe’s direction through 2028. Chief Executive Officer Magnus Grönvold presented the organisation’s strategic roadmap and the work underway to strengthen Tennis Europe while continuing to develop competitions, services and support for Member Nations.

The focus then moved to the Member Nations themselves. Delegates worked in six groups to discuss the main challenges they face in further developing the sport, what lies behind those challenges and where cooperation at European level could make a difference. The discussions provided valuable input from across the Member Nations, which Tennis Europe will now review to identify common themes and possible areas for future work.

Following the working-group discussions, Yuriy Polskiy, President of the Asian Tennis Federation, joined the meeting for a short address to the European delegates.

World Tennis AGM

The Regional Meeting formed part of the programme around the World Tennis Annual General Meeting in Almaty. In total, delegates from 128 nations from around the globe were present to discuss topics ranging from grassroots tennis to major team events. Tuesday’s plenary session saw the assembly decide on a number of resolutions related to the governing body’s constitution, and there was a vote to maintain the suspensions of the memberships of the Russian and Belarus Tennis Federations.

During the traditional award ceremony, Tennis Europe President Henrik Thorsøe Pedersen was honoured with a World Tennis Award for his lifelong contribution to the sport. Tennis Europe also received a special mention during the Advantage All award ceremony, in recognition of the outstanding work carried out in the field of Gender Equality.

Tennis Europe congratulates World Tennis on a very successful AGM and warmly thanks the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation and the Asian Tennis Federation for the excellent organisation, hospitality and warm welcome extended to delegates during their time in Kazakhstan.
