Minerva’s Virtual Academy Webinar for Student Athletes - Sign Up Now

Tennis Europe and education partner Minerva’s Virtual Academy, an award-winning online school, will present an interactive webinar focusing on the professionalism, structural discipline, and skills that allow players to thrive in both the classroom and the competitive arena.

The latest webinar, titled “Beyond the Baseline: The Architecture of the Elite Student-Athlete”, will take place next Thursday, May 28th at 19:00CET. The one-hour interactive experience will explore what an elite student athlete looks like beyond the tennis court — and how the skills built through tennis transfer into every area of life.

The Key Learning Points will include:

  • The Hybrid Routine: How to structure a "Block Schedule" that prioritises training peaks without causing academic drift.
  • The 3 Priorities Rule: A tactical approach to time management that ensures discipline and focus during heavy competition weeks.
  • The US College Pathway: A clear breakdown of NCAA/NAIA eligibility, GPA requirements, and how to align a curriculum for maximum scholarship potential.
  • Transferable Excellence: Understanding how "coachability" and "reflective practice" developed in tennis directly translate into digital literacy and career readiness.
  • Seasonal Management: Proven strategies for navigating the "In-Season" travel grind versus "Off-Season" training blocks.

Why This Matters for Tennis Europe players and parents

For the Tennis Europe community, the transition from junior to professional or collegiate ranks is the most precarious stage of development. Many talented players drop out of the sport due to the "binary choice" trap: feeling they must choose between their tennis dreamsand their future career. This session highlights how modern virtual learning eliminates that conflict, turning high-level tennis players into the most sought-after candidates for universities and global employers alike.

Speakers

Tom Morgan & Laura Udoh

This session is co-delivered by Tom Morgan, MVA’s Lead Athlete Mentor, who specialises in the psychological and structural development of high-performing juniors, and Laura Udoh, a specialist career advisor with deep expertise in US College recruitment.

According to Fabian Spiess, a former professional and semi-professional footballer and now the Development Manager for Athletes at Minerva Virtual Academy, “this webinar will provide a blueprint for players, parents, and federations to ensure that elite performance on the court never comes at the expense of academic excellence—and vice versa.”

The partnership with MVA emphasises Tennis Europe’s commitment to education as a key facet of player development. This webinar further extends our fruitful collaboration which has come in various forms, including a previous webinar, on-site activations together and of course having several Junior Tour players enrolled at MVA.
