Rafa Garcia and Isabella Johri have won the Category One 24th Joan Mir “In Memoriam” in Torelló, near Barcelona, Spain. It was a case of Spain versus Italy in both singles finals, with the two nations splitting the titles:
Boys’ Singles Final:
Rafa Garcia (ESP) def Alessandro Gallo (ITA) 6-7 7-6 6-0
Girls’ Singles Final:
Isabella Johri (ITA) def Sofia Kova (ESP) 6-4 6-2
Top seed Mark Jony (HUN) fell in round one, as did the second seed Blazej Krzysko (POL), opening the race wide up. It was a great run to the final for Gallo, a qualifier, who beat two seeded players en route to the final. Fourth seeded Garcia hadn’t dropped a set all week before running into the giant-killing Italian. They were inseparable in the first two sets, winning a tie-break each. In the final set Gallo faded, as Garcia sprinted to the finish line.
Johri also enjoyed a run of straight-sets wins before needing three sets to dispose of qualifier Anna Chuchilina in the semifinals. Kova, however, waltzed through her semi against top seed Iva Jerkovic (SRB), before running into a determined Johri in the final.
The Italian shared: "I am super happy with how the whole week went. I managed to play many matches this tournament and it was an incredible experience to learn and improve my tennis. Overall, I’m just super proud of how I overcame some tough moments during the tournament and hope I’ll be able to continue like this."
For Garcia, this is the TEJT tournament win of 2026 and he adds this to two other wins from 2025, also won on home soil in Spain, in Lleida (Catalonia Open) and Alicante (David Ferrer TEJT). Johri has won her second tour title, and first in this age group, having won a 14&U event in Sassuolo, Italy in 2024. The winners join the likes of Linda Frihvirtova (CZE), Tea Kovacevic (BIH) and Yannick Alexandrescou (ROU) as champions here in Torelló.
Boys’ doubles Champions: Rene Bertos (CRO) & Manuel Matesic (CRO)
Girls’ doubles Champions: Ana Chachkhunashvili (GEO) & Kamile Seliukaite (LTU)

Veli Losinj, Croatia: Ljubicic Academy Open, 14&U Cat2
Yanru Li (CHN) won the 16&U event last week in Veli Losinj, and backs this up with a win this week for an eighth Junior Tour title in all. Olivia Conticello (ITA), the girls’ champion, won her first ever TEJT singles title. It was a great week of tennis and social media coverage that came to us from Croatia:
Limassol, Cyprus: TE Baghdatis Academy, 12&U Cat2
It was an all-Cypriot affair, with locals sweeping the doubles titles as well as the singles titles. Andreas Leontis and Evelina Kyriacou were the singles champs, winning their second and first TEJT titles respectively.
