Tennis Europe Junior Masters Wild Cards Announced

Samuel Dakessian (FRA), Alexandra Budkova Kjaer (NOR), Iva Jerkovic (CRO) and Savva Rybkin have been awarded wild cards to compete at next week’s Tennis Europe Junior Masters in Monte-Carlo.

Dakessian finished the Race to Monte-Carlo ranked #8 in the 14 & Under boys’ category and has had a strong year, reaching as high as #3 in the rollover Junior Tour rankings and finishing as runner-up at Super Category tournaments in Maia and Stockholm.

The 14 & Under girls’ invitee, Alexandra Budkova Kjaer, will be hoping to use ‘home’ advantage to her favour: the Norwegian #1 learned to play tennis on the courts of the Monte-Carlo Country Club, of which she is a member, and where her brother Nicolai won the boys’ 16 & Under title in 2022. She’s had a prolific year on the Junior Tour, reaching three singles and four doubles finals across the 14 and 16 & Under age categories, claiming two doubles titles.

Iva Jerkovic of Croatia receives the Girls’ 16 & Under wild card. Ranked #8 in the Race to Monte-Carlo she missed out on direct qualification by just two ranking points. A winner of 61 matches on the Junior Tour this year, she has one singles title from three finals, and also won both doubles finals in which she appeared.

The final wild card goes to Boys’ 16 & Under #1 Savva Rybkin. Winner of the inaugural Carlos Moyà 12 & Under Festival in 2021, Rybkin went on to claim the 14 & Under bronze medal in Monte-Carlo in 2023. This year he is invited back as the #1 player in Tennis Europe’s 16 & Under rankings, and the top-ranked 2009-born European on the ITF World Tennis Tour (Juniors).

Hosted by the Monegasque Tennis Federation for a fifth consecutive year, the Tennis Europe Junior Masters will take place from October 21-25. The season-ending elite competition sees the Junior Tour’s top players battling to follow in the footsteps of former winners including Rafa Nadal, Simona Halep, Alexander Zverev and Kim Clijsters.

The event will be available to view on the Tennis Europe website and YouTube channel, with live scoring and streaming in collaboration with IONSport and Save My Play. Profiles of all 32 players are available below.
