European Senior Championships to be staged in Veli Losinj

The European Senior Championships (30+ to 90+) will be played from 6-12 June on the beautiful island of Losinj in Croatia.

The event will be staged at the new Ljubicic Tennis Academy, owned by former world #3 and coach of Roger Federer, Ivan Ljubicic, and organised by the Croatian Senior Tennis Association.

With 1000 ITF Senior Tour ranking points on offer to the champions, a European Championship gold medal is the ultimate goal for many senior players. The event caters for men and women, offering singles, doubles and mixed doubles competitions.

As an ‘Open’ Championship, players from all over the world are eligible to enter this fantastic event. Many off-court attractions will be provided for the players; everyone will receive a welcome gift, an invitation to the players’ party and information on the wealth of touristic possibilities offered by the island.

Ivan Ljubicic said, "I am very happy to welcome the world’s best senior tennis players to the beautiful island of Losinj. I am sure that win or lose you will have a great time here and, personally, I am looking forward to watching good matches on the Academy courts.”

Tennis Europe President Ivo Kaderka said, “Senior Tennis is an important component of our participation strategy and this event represents the pinnacle of the sport for the many thousands of Senior Tour players. I am sure that all the participants will enjoy an unforgettable week in the Croatian sun.”

Veli Losinj is a picturesque seaside town on the south east of Losinj island, situated in an archipelago in western Croatia, famed for the revitalising properties of its healthy air.

The island’s healing climate boasts an average June temperature of 25ºC and well over 300 hours of sunshine, making it the ideal location for a tennis holiday. The nearest airports include Zagreb, Ljubljana, Trieste, Pula, Rijeka and Zadar.

Players can enter the event via the ITF website.
