Tennis Europe statement on Russia and Belarus

Tennis Europe strongly condemns the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the supporting role played by Belarus.

In alignment with the International Tennis Federation, the European Federation’s Board of Management has today decided on further actions against Russia and Belarus.

The Russian Tennis Federation (RTF) and Belarus Tennis Federation (BTF) have been immediately suspended from membership of Tennis Europe.

Teams representing Russia or Belarus are therefore ineligible to compete at all Tennis Europe events (including Winter & Summer Cups, European Beach Tennis and Senior Club Championships) until further notice.

The suspension of all Tennis Europe events in Russia and Belarus has already been announced, this also includes the traditional European Junior Championships (16 & Under) in Moscow. An alternative venue is due to be found.

As a result of the suspension, delegates from both countries are not eligible to attend the 2022 Annual General Meeting of Tennis Europe, due to be held in Cascais, Portugal later this month.

Tennis Europe offers unconditional support to the Ukraine Tennis Federation and to the people of Ukraine.
