Tennis Europe Junior Tour returns with new health and safety protocols

The Tennis Europe Junior Tour returns on Monday 31st August, with 17 international tournaments scheduled across the region for players aged 14 and 16 & Under during the first week.

The unprecedented break in Tour action lasted five months and 20 days, during which over 330 events were cancelled or postponed. 12 & Under events remain on hold until the end of 2020, as do events of multiple age categories, and Category 1/Super Category tournaments. All events are limited to draw sizes of 32 players, with qualifying and main draw competitions taking place on separate days.

Upon the return, all tournaments must adhere to stringent new health and safety protocols devised to provide the safest possible conditions for players and organisers. These include:

  • Daily temperature screening for all individuals on-site
  • COVID-19 officer appointed by Tournament Organiser
  • Face coverings mandatory while off-court
  • Strict sanitary guidelines
  • Social distancing measures
  • No spectators
  • Maximum one accompanying person per player
  • Online sign-in

Full details of the new procedures, and updated Tour Rules and Regulations for the COVID-19 era can be found here.

Frozen since mid-March, the Tennis Europe Junior Tour rankings will receive their first update on 8th September, when a temporary two-year ranking system will come into effect.

The first week’s action will take place in 15 European countries, with Czech Republic and Slovenia hosting multiple events. Draws, results and schedules will be available via the Tennis Europe Junior Tour calendar.
