Malta hosts 2026 ITF/Tennis Europe Small States Championships

The 2026 edition of the ITF/Tennis Europe Small States Championships gets underway this week in Malta, bringing together some of Europe’s emerging tennis nations for a celebration of competition, development, and international exchange.

Hosted at the historic Marsa Sports Club, one of Malta’s most established multi-sport venues, the event will take place from 15–23 April, beginning with a training camp before competitive action gets underway.

A total of seven nations will be represented this year — Malta, Andorra, Cyprus, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Luxembourg, and Montenegro. Highlighting the continued strength and collaboration among Europe’s smaller tennis federations.

In total, 31 players (16 boys and 15 girls) will take part, supported by eight coaches, including three female coaches, underlining the event’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity and development across all levels of the game.

This year’s Championships also mark an important milestone, with the Faroe Islands making their debut appearance in the competition. A significant step in the event’s continued expansion and reach. The addition reflects the Championships’ core mission: to provide international opportunities and competitive pathways for nations where such platforms are vital for player progression.

Since its inception, the Small States Championships has played a key role in fostering talent and strengthening ties between participating nations, offering young players the chance to compete internationally while building friendships and gaining invaluable experience.

With its strong tennis tradition and world-class facilities, the Marsa Sports Club, featuring numerous courts and a vibrant sporting environment, provides an ideal setting for this year’s event, as the Maltese Tennis & Padel Federation welcomes Europe’s small states to its shores.

As the week unfolds, the focus will once again be on development, sportsmanship, and opportunity, as the next generation of players takes to the courts in Malta.
