A strong player field has been unveiled ahead of next week’s season-ending Tennis Europe Junior Masters.
This year’s participants come from 18 different nations. Croatia is the powerhouse, with an impressive five players in the mix. Slovakia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Russia each have three representatives. Italy, the host nation, will field two players, as will Bulgaria.
The following nations round out the draws, with one player each: Belarus, Czech Republic, Hungary, France, Great Britain, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania and Switzerland. Between them, the 32 players in action have won a total of 75 singles and 76 doubles titles during the 2019 season.
The 24th edition of the Tennis Europe Junior Masters will take place at CT Rocco Polimeni in Reggio Calabria (ITA) from 4-6 October. A special session of the Tennis Europe Junior School will be held on the eve of the tournament.
Devised to allow the elite players of the Tennis Europe Junior Tour a final opportunity to compete against each other before the year-end rankings are published, the event features a myriad of household names amongst the former competitors.
Former world #1s Kim Clijsters and Rafael Nadal capped their best seasons on the 14 & Under circuit by winning the event in 1997 and 2000 respectively, while players such as Andy Murray, Alexander Zverev, Kim Clijsters, Simona Halep and Belinda Bencic are all former medallists.
