The fourth annual European Beach Tennis Championships are taking place from 16-18th September at the Black Sea resort of Albena in Bulgaria.
The event looks set to be the toughest yet, with 124 players from 19 nations set to compete, includeing 34 Top 100-ranked players. Both men’s and women’s draws are headlined by the world’s best players; co-world #1s and defending champions Simona Briganti & Laura Olivieri of Italy will be the women’s top seeds, while the top two men Alessandro Calbucci & Luca Meliconi lead the men’s draw.
The Championships also see the ITF Beach Tennis Circuit debut of Elena Likhovtseva. The Russian is a former WTA doubles #3 and winner of 29 career doubles titles, including two mixed Grand Slams. She will team up with another former pro, Maria Goloviznina.
The European Beach Tennis Championships are played as men’s, women’s and mixed doubles events, with a regular elimination draw format.
