42 national tennis federations were represented by almost 100 delegates at the assembly, which opened with an emotive anti-war message from the organisation’s President, Ivo Kaderka.

Amongst the key motions passed were the ratification of the Board of Management’s decision to suspend the membership of the Russia and Belarus Tennis Federations until further notice, in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The assembly also approved the 2022 budgets and received annual reports from the Junior, Professional, Senior Tennis and Development departments, as well as an update from International Tennis Federation President David Haggerty and CEO Kelly Fairweather.

The European Federation experimented with a new format for the event, which combined the Top Executives’ Meeting - a day of networking, workshops and industry discussion for CEOs and national association decision-makers - with the more formal constitutional gathering.

The opening day also saw the launch of a new comprehensive 4-year partnership between Tennis Europe and Dunlop, which will focus on the promotion of junior tennis and includes Dunlop’s extended family of tennis brands, including K-Swiss apparel & footwear and the Slinger bag ball launcher.

10 individuals were recognised with Tennis Europe Awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the sport and its administration (see below). European Tennis Trophy Awards were presented to Latvia (Best-Performing ‘C’-Nation), Croatia (Best-Performing ‘B’-Nation), Poland (Most Improved Nation), Netherlands (Wheelchair Tennis), Germany (Senior Tennis), Italy (Beach Tennis) and Czech Republic (Junior Tennis).

Ivo Kaderka said, “I would like to thank Vasco Costa and all the team from the Portuguese tennis Federation for the warm welcome and excellent organisation. This was an emotional meeting in many ways, but underlined the enduring unity of Europe’s tennis family.”

The meeting closed with the announcement that the Spanish Tennis Federation will host the 2023 AGM in the city of Barcelona, from 23-25 March.
