Tennis Europe has revealed the player nominations for the 2015 European Beach Tennis Championships, which are due to be held in Eilat, Israel, from 22-24th October.

A total of 69 doubles teams from 15 nations had previously confirmed their participation at the eighth edition of the competition.

Italy once again leads the entries in both men’s and women’s competitions, with several of the world’s best players due to part in each category.

In the absence of defending champions Alessandro Calbucci & Marco Garavini, world #3 Michele Cappelletti & #6 Matteo Marighella will be hot favourites to take the men’s title.

They will face stiff opposition from compatriots Luca Carli & Luca Meliconi, the 2011 champions, while Russian Top 20 players Nikita Burmakin & Sergey Kuptsov and Spain’s Antomi Ramos Viera & Gerard Rodriguez are likely to round off the top four seeds.

Last year’s women’s winners Eva D’Elia & Veronica Visani will also not be defending their title, leaving joint world #2s – and 2014 silver medallists - Federica Bacchetta & Sofia Cimatti as the top seeds. The second Italian team also features two Top 10 players, in the shape of Daina Falminia & Giulia Gasparri. France’s Hoarau sisters, Marie-Eve & Mathilde, are also likely to be in the hunt for medals, as will Spain’s Pilar Escandell & Rosa Sitja.

The host nation, which competed at the event for the first time last year, will submit three teams to each of the men’s, women’s and mixed doubles competitions. The playing captain is former WTA star Tzipi Obziler, who has often shone when playing for her country, having competed at 61 ties.
