The second edition of the European Seniors Championships is currently taking place across two venues in Sofia, where the event is being hosted for a second year in succession by the Bulgarian Tennis Federation.

Over 250 players are taking part in the tournament, which sees singles, doubles and mixed doubles events held, catering for all age categories and split between Bulgaria’s National Tennis Centre and the nearby Dema Club.

A number of the best-known names on the ITF Seniors Circuit are in action. Amongst those set to defend their title are Alec Arvo Harven (FIN, Mens 45), Bruno Renoult (FRA, Mens 60), Maria Bergenheim (EST, Womens 35), Liselot Prechtel (NED, Womens 50), Irina Klimova (RUS, Womens 55) and Radomila Martinicova (CZE, Womens 60). Last year’s Men’s 35 winner Thassilo Haun (GER) will be the top seed in the Men’s 40 this time, and is one of five world #1 players to be taking part.

A Grade B1 event on the ITF Seniors Circuit, the European Championships offer 210 ranking points to the winner, making the event the biggest in Europe in terms of points available.
