Tennis Europe appoints Padel Manager

Tennis Europe has announced that Marta Conean has been recruited for the new position of Padel Manager.

Conean, 44, is a former tennis professional and a leading Padel instructor in her native Italy. She has already begun work and one of her first tasks was to oversee Tennis Europe’s inaugural international Padel event, the Nations Cup, which was held in Nijmegen recently, where it was hosted by the Royal Dutch Lawn Tennis Association.

The Padel Manager position was created in response to demand from Tennis Europe constituent 50 national tennis federations, many of which already incorporate Padel to their national calendars. Marta’s main task will be to take on the communication between these nations in their dealings with Padel.

Ms. Conean commented, “I’m very proud to join Tennis Europe and am very happy that the organisation has decided to work on the development of Padel. Padel is the fastest growing sport in Europe - it’s easy to play, great fun and playable by everyone. It has enormous potential and I want to help tennis federations and clubs to benefit from its growth. Padel can bring social and economic benefits to all member nations and is not a rival to tennis, but a complementary sport that reflects the modern way of life.”

Tennis Europe President Vladimir Dmitriev commented, “We are very pleased to welcome Marta to the team and look forward to working with her to further our involvement in Padel. The position received great interest and I’d like to thank all of those who applied. Marta has a wealth of experience and I am sure that she will do an excellent job on behalf of our member nations.”
