The draws have been made for the Tennis Europe Junior Masters, the elite season-ending event for the best performing 14 and 16 & Under players on the Tennis Europe Junior Tour.
The event returns to CT Rocco Polimeni in Reggio Calabria (ITA) for a seventh consecutive year, where the players were given a warm welcome at Thursday evening’s opening ceremony.
This year’s field is exceptionally strong, with almost of all the qualified players able to take part. In total, the 32 players due to be in action have combined to win 77 singles and 49 doubles titles on the Tennis Europe Junior Tour this season. Former participants at the Junior Masters include Grand Slam champions Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Kim Clijsters and Jelena Ostapenko.
Prior to the opening ceremony, the players took part in the 2017 Tennis Europe Junior Tour Educational Forum. The event is designed to help prepare players for a life in tennis after the 14 and 16 & Under Tours, and saw presentations and workshops hosted by Tennis Europe's Communications Manager Jonathan Jobson and Faye Andrews of The Emilia Group. Topics included nutrition, sponsorship, rules and regulations and the media. This edition of the Forum included a new fun, interactive ‘Brain Games’ format to encourage players to work in teams to complete tasks on the various topics.
