Roll of Honour

2008 Helvetie Cup

Poland beat Great Britain to capture the Helvetie Cup for the second time in four years, following a tight final in Leysin, Switzerland.

The two team split singles victories as Paula Kania put the third-seeded Poles ahead, thanks to a straight sets win over Heather Watson. Tara Moore struck back for the Brits in similar style, losing just five games to Magda Linette to take the tie to a decisive doubles rubber.

Having won the European Junior Championships doubles title together just ten days prior, the Poles overcame a second set stutter to clinch the title 63 06 64.

Following their achievements in Leysin, the two teams will be joined by the next best-four perfoming teams - Hungary, Serbia, Belarus and Netherlands - at the Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas finals in Mexico in September.

A total of 29 national teams entered the 2008 Helvetie Cup.
