2009 Borotra Cup - 16 & Under Boys

France has recaptured the Borotra Cup trophy with a 2-1 win over Czech Republic at the finals in Le Touquet.

The home team wrapped up the tie in singles action, thanks to straight sets victories for Mathias Bourgue and Mick Lescure, who beat Lukas Vrnak and Kiri Vesely respectively. The Czechs later regrouped to win a consolatory doubles match as the four players returned to the court.

The landmark win brings France level with Sweden as the most successful nations in the history of the Championships, with seven titles apiece.

A total of 28 nations entered the 2009 event, which also serves as the European qualifying competition for the Junior Davis Cup by BNP Paribas. France and the Czech Republic will be joined by 3rd to 5th place finishers Slovak Republic, Spain and Poland at the event in Mexico in September.
