2008 Borotra Cup - 16 & Under Boys

Russia has won the Borotra Cup for the first time in the 33-year history of the event, coming from behind to beat Hungary 2-1 on the final day of action in Le Touquet, France.

Marton Fucsovics edged Robert Muzaev 36 75 64 to put the top-seeded Hungarians in front only to see the lead cancelled out in a match between two former Tennis Europe Junior Tour #1s, in which Mikhail Biryukov beat Mate Zsiga 63 63.

The four players returned to the court for the deciding doubles match, which the Russian pair took 64 63.

Following their achievements, the two teams will be joined by the next best-four perfoming teams - Sweden, Latvia, Great Britain and Romania - at the Junior Davis Cup by BNP Paribas finals in Mexico in September.

A total of 30 national teams entered the 2008 Borotra Cup.
